This is an efficient, sanitary and inexpensive way to aerate wort in the primary fermenter. The aquarium pump forces room air through the sanitiary, in-line HEPA filter which removes dirt and contaminants. Then the air is delivered to the wort through a stainless steel diffusion stone, which promotes rapid absorbtion into the wort. For best results, aerate your cooled wort for 20-30 minutes. The components are also sold separately.
Dissolve high levels of O2 in your wort for a low level of dollars! Oxygenation with compressed O2 and a diffusion stone gives a high level of dissolved O2 faster than aeration with an aquarium-style pump. Dissolved O2 in your wort means healthier yeast, shorter lag phase, faster fermentation, lower levels of fermentation byproducts like esters and diacetyl, and lower terminal gravity. Needed but not included is a disposable oxygen tank, available at hardware stores.
Savvy brewers know that oxygen-rich wort means healthy yeast cells, shorter lag phases, and faster fermentations. Adding pure oxygen to wort is much more efficient than splashing or shaking a carboy full of beer. The Oxynater from Liquid Bread includes a small oxygen regulator, a stainless steel diffusion stone with 0.5 micron pores, and all the necessary tubing; you provide a disposable oxygen tank, available at any good hardware store.
Filters down to .023 micron with 99.99% efficiency. Use with 3/8" ID tubing (1/4" ID will also work). Can be used as a microbiological air filter for aeration systems, or keg hand pumps. This filter can also make sterile water for yeast starters, rehydrating dry yeast, or topping up.
To get gas to easily dissolve in a liquid such as beer wort, it helps if the bubbles are as small as possible. The best way to make small bubbles is to pump the gas through a diffusion stone such as these. Diffusion stones are really useful for pumping air or oxygen into wort, and for carbonating beer. Our stones are made of stainless steel, and are available in either 2 microns or 0.5 microns. If you are using an aquarium pump with your stone, you should purchase the 2 micron size, which is plenty small. If you are using your stone for force carbonate beer, the 0.5 micron size is more effective (although the 2 micron size will work). Barbed for 1/4" I.D. tubing.
The Siphon Sprayer fits on the end of standard 3/8" transfer tubing and allows you to aerate your cooled wort as you siphon. Aerating your wort with the Siphon Sprayer ensures proper yeast development, reduces the chance of contamination, and guarantees that your wort is properly oxygenated for optimum fermentation.
