Product details

It's brown, it's named after a large North American ungulate, and its name suggests oral incontinence. Ah, we market products with our minds, but we drink beer with our mouths! Which is why this American brown ale is sure to be your new favorite session beer.

Hard to believe so many enticing flavors can come from one beer recipe kit. But brew up a batch of Caribou Slobber and you'll find dense, drool-worthy layers of malt, caramel, baking chocolate, and a hint of light-roast coffee give way to reveal a hop character that will surprise you if you're used to drinking English brown ale.

The finish is complex but balanced, and the gravity is not so high as to keep you from having another.

Yield: 5 Gallons

Delicious

One of my favorite brews so far. This will be my new go-to when I can't decide on something new to try

This kit was awesome

This was my best brew yet it's so delicious. Notes of chocolate and coffee it almost reminds me of a stout. I used wlp002 yeast. Just a touch on the bitter side but it's damn good.

always solid

This is the first kit from NB that we brewed years ago. And we keep coming back for more, again and again. Easy to brew, always delicious.

One of my best

I brewed this slobber 3 or 4 times now, always the best beer I made. My buddies love it too. As I'm drinkn a glass of fresh caribou slobber out of the keg as I write this, I made a small little mistake, keep your slobber at 4 1/2 gals the taste is so much better I accidentally topped it off at 5 gal.. Still a great ale but just a little weak, and that was my fault. I will definitely make this again !!!

Caribou Slobber All Grain Beer Recipe Kit

Good tasting beer. I only have three comments.
1. The Danstar Windsor Ale Yeast has a low attenuation, meaning it doesn't consume all or a lot of the sugars in the wart. Hence, after waiting 23 days, my F.G. went to 1.025 from a really good O.G of 1.057. The recipe O.G. was to be 1.052. I wasn't sure if the yeast had stalled or not. I have never had that happen with any beer batch and I have been brewing since 1992. I will say the yeast had a high activity for the first two days; then nothing seemed to be happening.
2. I bottled and added 4 Oz. of dry corn sugar. 3 days later one of my bottles broke due to the pressure. I immediately put the rest of the bottles in my beer refrigerator so as to lower the pressure. So, be careful with this recipe.
3. I plan to brew this beer again, but I am thinking I will pitch some Safal-05 after the Danstar Windsor Ale Yeast has had at least 3 days to work it's magic.
