Product details

Dating back to monastic breweries in the middle ages, Dubbels are still produced at abbeys and monasteries in Belgium. This kit yields an authentic Trappist-style ale with a russet color, dense off-white head, and a host of flavors and aromas - spices, flowers, dried fruit, plums, raisins, rum, and toffee - arising from the interaction of grains, sugar, and yeast. A medium-full bodied, complex beer that pairs with everything from cheese to stew to dessert.

Due to the high starting gravity of this kit, we recommend pitching multiple packs of yeast or preparing a yeast starter for best results.

Worth the Wait

This was my very first brew, which I had to wait many months to fully enjoy, but it was absolutely worth it. Give it time to condition and your patience will be rewarded. Dubbel ales are among my favorites styles, and not available at stores in my area. This is at least as good as any store bought dubbel I've had. I'm currently brewing my second batch and intend to keep this one stocked.

great!

This is one of my favorite styles and it turned out absolutely awesome! I love the recipe kits because it makes it simple and has everything you need pre measured.

Dubbel Delight

This is my favorite beer to make and age. It only gets better with time! Typical aging is six-months before begging. I order several of these kits a year and make them up so I don’t have to wait at six-month intervals to enjoy.

Easy to make Kit

This brew was easy to make, just have to wait a couple of weeks before I try it but I'm sure it will be good.

So worth it

I made this several years ago, but it didn't taste especially Belgian. This time a little more attention to detail resulted in the real deal. Brewed at 74 degrees without yeast starter to ensure slightly grumpy yeast that yielded characteristic spicy, clovy, banana, caramel notes of type. Very happy with this one!
