Traditional Ratchet Presses. Commercial-quality vertical basket presses in a variety of sizes. Each press has a heavy-duty, two-piece hardwood basket that disassembles for cleaning and a single-piece pressed steel basin and screw shaft on three freestanding legs — bolt to a workbench for maximum leverege. Also included is a two-piece hardwood pressing disc, spacing blocks, and steel pawls to set the ratchet direction. The double-ratchet press mechanism creates lots of leverage, delivering the best possible yield. Basket capacities: #20 is 2.5 gallons, #25 is 5 gallons, #30 is 8 gallons. Stainless Steel Ratchet Press. If you expect your press to get a lot of usage, you should consider stainless steel. This is essentially the same design as the traditional rachet press, but the painted steel base and wood basket have been replaced with stainless steel.
The bladder press is a design improvement on the traditional wooden-basket ratchet-style press. A rubber bladder expands from the stem outward using water pressure to press the fruit against the sides of the cage. This style of pressing is much more subtle and softer on the fruit, extracting less bitter tannins and oils from cracked seeds. This is also a more efficient method of pressing — cutting the cycle down to less than half the time a ratchet-style press would take. Water is required to inflate the press rather than air; no more than 30 psi is needed for most fruits. Household water pressure, supplied by a garden hose, works great.
The #40157 and #40158 liter model features a stainless cage with painted lid and basin; model #40159 is all-stainless.
Micro Press. Stainless steel. Basket is 6" in diameter, 4.5" high, with a stainless straining sleeve. Easy to store, good for small amounts of fruit; doubles as a cheese press.

Manual Apple Crusher. Pulp apples, pears, or other hard fruit before pressing. Very similar to the manual grape crusher (#7773), except the fruit is first chopped with stainless cutting blades before entering the rollers.
Manual Grape Crusher/Destemmer. Grapes go in the hopper — pulp comes out the bottom, and stems are augered out the side. A large hand crank drives aluminum rollers and agitator inside the hopper and the destemmer auger. Stainless hopper is 33"x21" and 11" deep; entire unit measures 52"x13"x24" tall. Pictured with stand and chute, sold separately.
Stand and Chute for Manual Crushers. Pictured above with the crusher/destemmer, sold separately. Works with items #7772,#7773 and #7769. Rest crusher on stand; pulp is funneled into your fermenter by the stainless chute.
