Our economical Triple Scale Hydrometer reads in Specific Gravity, Brix/Balling, and Potential Alcohol. This is the same hydrometer we include in our starter kits.
The thermohydrometer has the same features as the Triple Scale, but also contains a thermometer that allows you to accurately correct for the temperature of the sample.
This specialized hydrometer is used by distillers to check the alcohol content of distilled spirits. It's useless for beer or winemaking, but we've had some requests for it!
The Economy Test Jar has a wide plastic base to prevent tipping, and is 14 1/4" tall.
Plastic, 12" tall. Clear column screws into the base to form a watertight seal. Disassemble for cleaning, storage, shipping, etc. Will acommodate standard-size hydrometers or thermohydrometers; not recommended for use with our large brewery hydrometers.
Nineteen-inch plastic thief makes wort sampling easy. To remove a sample, simply immerse the thief into the fermenter, place your thumb over the other end, and remove the thief. The beer/wine thief fills a sample jar with just one or two dips and disassembles into three pieces for easy cleaning.
A refractometer instantly reads gravity, in Brix, of unfermented wort or fruit juice by measuring the degree that light passing through the sample is bent. Unlike a hydrometer, only a few drops are required for a sample. To use, apply 2-3 drops to the prism face, close cover, and look through the eyepiece while aiming your refractometer at a light source.
Our refractometers measure from 0-32° Brix, with an accuracy of +/- 0.2° Brix. They also include automatic temperature compensation for temperatures between 50-86° F, which eliminates the need to consult temperature correction charts.
