Northern Brewer malt syrup is unhopped, made from 100% domestic barley, and is an excellent base for any beer. These are the extracts in our beer kits and we use them ourselves at home. Our turnover is very high, so you can be assured you're brewing with the freshest possible product. These malt syrups will have a brewhouse yield of about 34 ppg (or an OG of approx. 1.041 from 6 pounds in a 5 gallon batch).
Northern Brewer Organic Light. This is a certified organic 100% malted barley extract suitable as a base malt for any kind of beer. It is pale in color (2 - 6° L) with a malty flavor.
Northern Brewer Pilsen. This is the lightest-colored 100% malted barley extract available — 1.5 - 3.0° L. Produces a very crisp clear wort with a subtle, malty flavor and is an excellent base for all beers, especially pale styles.
Northern Brewer Gold. Northern Brewer Gold is made from pale malt with a small amount of CaraPils and is light colored with a malt flavor.
Northern Brewer Amber. Northern Brewer Amber is a mix of pale and Munich malt with Caramel 60 for a sweet malt flavor with caramel overtones.
Northern Brewer Dark. Northern Brewer Dark has the same composition as Amber with the addition of a small amount of black malt for a smooth, dark beer.
Northern Brewer Wheat. Northern Brewer Wheat is a blend of wheat malt (65%) and pale malt (35%).
Northern Brewer Sorghum Syrup. Made from 100% white sorghum grain, this gluten-free syrup provides proteins and amino acids necessary for yeast nutrition, head retention and body along with color and flavor. Mild flavor and pale color (2° -6° L) with a yield of 37 ppg.
Briess DME. Produced by Briess Malt & Ingredients Company in a fully automated, state-of-the-art brewhouse in Chilton, Wisconsin, from their own freshly-malted grain. Briess DME is an economical base extract suitable for all types of beer. Unhopped, with an SG yeild of 43 points per gallon.
Please note: the 50 pound quantity comes factory-packaged in a multi-wall paper bag with a polyliner. We recommend storage in an airtight plastic bucket or tub after opening.
Munton's DME. Made in Britain. Munton's ferments dry, with a smooth, robust malt character.
Certified Organic DME. Certified Organic Dry Malt Extract.
Bulk Dry Malt Extract. For greater savings, purchase dry malt extract in bulk. Dry malt extract keeps better than syrup, and it is relatively easy to measure out just what you need.

Alexander's. Made in the USA. Alexander's Pale Malt is made from 100% 2-row Klages barley, it is an excellent base extract. Alexander's Wheat is a 50-50 blend of Wheat and Klages.
John Bull. Made in the UK. This best-selling malt syrup is mashed to produce high dextrins, and a full body. Ideal for English and Scottish ales. Maris Otter extract is made from 100% UK Maris Otter malt; 6-7° L.
Munton & Fison. Made in the UK. Ferments very dry. This is a good general-purpose extract.
