Product details

Brew up a batch of our Bavarian Hefeweizen, and you'll feel the call of a traditional Bier Hall in every bottle. This foolproof beer recipe kit yields a medium-bodied, effervescent ale practically exploding with yeast and wheat malt character, kind of like a liquid multi-grain bread. A shining, hand-crafted example of Bavaria's signature brew.

The Bavarian Hefeweizen recipe kit contains all the ingredients you need for a 100% traditional, cloudy, malty, and spicy brew, with a smooth mouthfeel and dense, whipped-cream head. Serve in a tall glass "mit hefe" and swirl the bottle to make sure you get all the yeast!

Yield: 5 Gallons

Made this brew 4 times now, still great

Delicious

This was my first time brewing a hefeweisen. I was very happy with how it turned out. This had a more mellow wheat taste to it compared to others I’ve sampled. Something different from the stouts and IPAs I’ve been brewing. Definitely will try again.

Yeast

Did not make the brew as yet. My kit does not contain yeast. Is there a recommendation of which yeast to order and use? Thank you

A Great Beer, Prone to User Error

Fantastic end-product, but... I know I screwed up somewhere in the process. Compared to something like Ayinger or other Domestic interpretations of the Bavarian Hefe, mine came out distinctly less wheaty and more fruity than expected. Fears arose with regards to sanitization, but I double and triple checked everything, PBW and StarSan'd the whole kit and caboodle. First time doing a 5 gallon batch, and I'm happy with it, but wanted something closer to the original.

That being said, I'm still giving the kit 5 stars because the issue is solely on the newer brewer, not the ingredients. Will likely try again sometime soon... Next up, Kolsch!

Good beer

Good beer overall with definitely Hefe Weizen flavors. What it lacks is mouth feel and head retention. If/when I make it again I will add a pound of crushed wheat to steep. This extract beer kit does not have any grain for steeping
