
Oak Infusion Spiral American Medium Toast - 2 Pack

Made from premium oak, these toasted oak spirals increase extraction of aroma, flavor, and tannin by their greater surface area. Add to your barrels, tanks, or carboy; suggested dose is 2 sticks per 6 gallons, but you can snap the spirals into smaller portions to adjust to taste.

Soaked the oak spiral in for 6 days before adding to secondary and let sit for 3 weeks, which added a great oaky back taste.
I've ordered and used the various oak infusion spiral sticks "Heavy Oak, Medium Plus, and Medium" for many years now and can verify that they have produced the intended results. A great product!!
the spiral are great to use, if you only have carboys and want wine that taste like it has been in oak barrels for a few months.
The oak spiral seems to add oak flavor much faster than chips, presumably due to all the exposed end grain of the spiral. However, I much prefer the medium-plus or heavy toast versions of the product. At a medium toast, I find it imparts too much of a raw oak taste. The suggested dose of 2 sticks per 6 gallons is also a bit high for my tastes. I prefer to use one stick for a longer period of time in a 5 gallon batch.I use these mostly with brown ales and let them age in secondary for several months. Can be added straight in to the keg.
