Product details

Patterned after some of Belgium most unique and famous ales, our kit yields a beer that looks innocent in the glass but packs a delicious wallop. The secret is a high percentage of candi sugar, an easily fermentable sugar that ratchets up the beer strength while keeping the body light and easy to drink. Smooth mouthfeel, sweet, floral maltinesss, and rich spiciness from hops and yeast.

Due to the high starting gravity of this kit, we recommend pitching multiple packs of yeast or preparing a yeast starter for best results. Read our article on How To Make A Yeast Starter for more info.

So far so good. It was straight forward brew day and looked great. Easy fermentation both primary and secondary. Bottling was simple with the fizz drops. I look forward to crackin' a cold one soon

I have brewed this in the past to wide acclaim. Normally gifted during the Holiday Season. I brewed this the first week of August to give it some time in the bottle before handing them off to friends. Two weeks in primary and a little over a month in secondary before bottling. 2+ months in the bottle and it’s delicious… and strong.

Great Belgian Varietal Kit!

Northern Brewer does a great job constructing these kits with quality ingredients with flexible options and ingredients. I brew Belgian style beers almost exclusively. The Belgian Strong Golden Beer (Ale) Recipe Kit has not disappointed. The kit offers a good selection of yeast to choose from which I appreciate because yeast is really the heart of any good Belgian Ale. I achieved a 96% attenuation and 1.003FG using the Omega brand yeast offered with this kit. The initial flavor profile also is wonderful.

Very Good Beer

I like Belgian Strong Ales and this one doesn't disappoint. Very sweet immediately after kegging, but mellowed very nicely after two weeks. I will let it condition one or two more week before drinking. Recommend.

This was actually my first golden brew I brewed. Excellent base to start from, since then I’ve been adjusting grains and hops and additions to my tastes. Excellent place to start
