Product details

We've eschewed divinity in favor of the occult to bring you a taste of Black Magic. A diabolical Dark Mild born of a deceptively simple recipe that spawns a murky potion possessing a decidedly complex flavor. Bread and biscuits, toast and toffee, chicory and caramel, all enveloped in a cloak of rich maltiness that's balanced by a mellow bitterness with subtle floral spiciness.

Before the dawn of science and the discovery of yeast, the act of fermentation was a mystical process, the product of seemingly supernatural forces. Whether by spirits of nature, or a gift from the gods, this magical transformation has captivated the human consciousness since time immemorial. Its spell cast, Black Magic will take hold of your senses and turn you away from the light (beer), and pull you to the darker side of homebrewing.

Black magic mild - real good

Had a good feeling about this one. After brewing, we played a Tibetian singing bowl around it for good vibes. In a world dominated by mind numbing ipas, this is a breath of fresh air. You actually have to tune in your senses a bit to pick up the nuanced deliciousness. I love IPA’s as much as the next guy but this feels like real beer. Cheers mates!!

Easy to brew and I hit most everything on target. Brewed using SA-05 yeast fermenting at 67 deg. Into the keg at 1.010 with alcohol calculated at 4.3%.
Nothing outstanding. As someone noted more an amber than a dark and on the light side . Seems to be the US style. Slight malt taste followed by hop bitterness. Found it went better with food than just drinking alone. Definitely not a sipper but you can easily drink a pint. An okay beer but better beers to brew.

First time making this recipe. All who have had a chance to taste it so far have been very pleased. Good taste and carbonation. Will be making this again.

Pleasant beverage

A little scary at the beginning as it was a pretty passive fermentation cycle, being a low ABV beer that's expected but this was unique. In spite of this, it turned to be a very pleasant drink, smooth, flavorful, and satisfying. Will definitely brew it again.
