Product details

The siphonless version of the popular FerMonster™ 3 Gallon Fermenter. Perfect for 2-3 gallon batches of beer, wine, cider, mead and even kombucha! The FerMonster™ 3 Gallon Fermenter provides advantages over narrow mouth carboys. The 4" wide mouth makes the fermenter easy to clean, dry hop or infuse. Made from P.E.T plastic, the ribless design ensures that yeast and sediment fall to the bottom after fermentation. The lid o-ring makes the vessel air-tight to keep out oxygen and reassure that your airlock will bubble away without any unwanted seal leaks.

3 Gallon siphonless fermonster

Overall it’s working great. Like many other reviews have said the plastic is a little thin. It hasn’t been an issue for me though. You just have to go easy during cleaning and don’t put a lot of pressure on the side walls. I learned the hard way it’s probably also worth it to get the fermonster lid opener. I fermented my first batch in it and had a really hard time getting the lid open afterwards. Other than that, this is a pretty affordable, easy option for fermenting smaller batches.

Good fermenter, pretty fragile

This fermenter is perfect for 2.5 gallon batches and the spigot works well. Just be sure to handle with care because the plastic is very flimsy

I thinks it’s a great concept. But there are two things I would change about the product. One, I would mark volume calibrations along the side. Two, I would place the spigot a bit lower so there wouldn’t be as much waste in separating the wine from the sediment.

Working Fine So Far

I'm trying this new fermenter as a replacement for an older plastic style that I'd been using for my 6+ years of homebrewing (almost all 2-gallon batches). The plastic does indeed seem thinner and more-flexible than what I'm used to, but so far (3 batches) it seems to be working out okay for me. I do appreciate that it's nice and clear and transparent, though; that's a difference for me, the activity inside being more visible. Yes, and easy to clean.

One element I must keep aware of is the hole at the bottom where the spigot fits in. With the thinner plastic material overall, the spigot connection seems perhaps less-secure than I'm used to, so must take care during its manipulation. So far no real problem, though.
