Homebrew Cheat Sheet: Liquid Volume Conversions

Do a quick mental calculation: how many ounces in one liter of homebrew? What about in 375 mL? Can you do 500 mL to oz? 16 oz to mL? How many ounces to 750 mL?

Not so easy, huh? Converting between different liquid volume measurements can be a real headache for homebrewers (and winemakers - 750 mL to gallons, anyone?). Phone calculators help, but they aren't much good if you don't know the right conversions.

Most Common Homebrew Conversions:

  • gallons to mL (1 gal = 3785 mL)
  • 750 mL to gallons (750 mL = .2 gal)
  • 750 mL to ounces (750 mL = 25 oz)
  • liter to oz (1 L = 33.8 oz)
  • gallons to bottles (1 gal = 10 bottles (12 oz))
  • bottles to cases (1 case = 12 wine bottles or 24 beer bottles)

To help you manage these conversions and more, we put together a chart tailored to the most common beer, mead, cider, kombucha, and winemaking fermentor sizes. Without further ado, here is your cheat sheet for homebrew volume conversions:
