Product details

Brewed with Columbus, Centennial, Amarillo® and Simcoe®, this quintessential double IPA is an homage to perhaps the most sought-after beer in America, a legendary IIPA ranked #1 by the AHA for nine years straight.

Now you can craft the legend yourself with one of our most popular Double IPA recipe kits -- The Plinian Legacy.

In true West Coast style, this famously fragrant IIPA beer kit features an uncomplicated yet sturdy malt backbone to which outlandish amounts of hops are added. It has a fine balance of ingredients, producing malt, hoppy bitterness, and warming alcohol, with a fresh hop aroma of floral citrus and pine. Bittered with pure essence of hop, flavored with massive kettle additions, and featuring not one, but two dry hoppings, it is the first and last word when it comes to the ultimate hoppy homebrew.

There is no need to stash this Imperial IPA away as it is intended to be enjoyed fresh, before the delicate hop aromas fade. Get ready to experience the ultimate lupulin threshold shift!

Due to the high starting gravity of this kit, we recommend pitching multiple packs of yeast or preparing a yeast starter for best results.

Yield: 5 Gallons

Brewed this in a SVBS and fermented in a conical brew bucket. Hit the the OG and recommend that anyone brewing this use a conical. I had 6 gallons going in and came out with about 4.75 due to the dry hopping. Probably could have made it to 5 but the hops were starting to transfer to the keg so I stopped it. Fantastic beer, although I can't compare to Pliny since I haven't been able to find it.

They say I’m running out of time to rate the kit. I brewed it on 1/1 and it is still aging and needs another round of dry hops. However, I’ve had it before and it is one of the best I’ve ever had. I’m going to keg it this time.
