Product details

Irish ales are malty, smooth, medium-bodied, and most, like our kit, are a deep copper-red color that is created by a blend of specialty malts. Our malt blend also gives this recipe its signature toasty and sweet aroma and flavor.

Another defining characteristic of Irish Red Ales is their immense drinkability - definitely a crowd-pleaser beer. Its great taste, drinkability, and low aging requirements make this one of our best-selling kits.

I love this Red for the backbone of my variant.. "Smokin Wyoming Redhead"!!

Beer was good but not what I was expecting. But that doesn't mean someone else doesn't enjoy it. Just not for me and my taste.

Excellent Irish Red

When transferring from kettle to fermenter, I thought the color was more like an amber ale than red ale. I did hit the projected gravity which surprised me because if not a kit, I would have used another pound or two of grain.
The ferment went really quick, and smelled wonderful. At bottling, I again wished the color was a little more toward the red hue, but it is in the acceptable range for this style. I managed to make two weeks before trying one. It was carbed pretty well and showed promise of being a pretty decent brew. At three weeks I was amazed at how much it improved. Well carbed, very clear, nice tan colored head that lingered through most of the drink, and a really nice taste. I have been brewing for 25 years, all grain for 20 years, and I could not have blended grains together myself to make a better tasting Irish Red.

Irish Red Ale

I've brewed this all grain kit from NB several times over the years and it never fails to please. I always get rave reviews and the keg never lasts long. Highly recommended.
